Hundreds of non-native, free-living green monkeys call the Caribbean territory of St. Maarten home. Now, the government plans to kill these animals as a means of controlling the monkeys' growing numbers. 

This kind of deadly "management" is cruel and unnecessary, as compassionate non-lethal options exist.

We the undersigned implore the government of Sint Maarten to abandon plans to use lethal control to manage the population of non-native green monkeys present on the island territory. As compassionate supporters of animal welfare, we encourage you to engage with experts to develop an effective and humane sterilization program that would save the lives of the monkeys, while mitigating concerns over their presence.
